Who are you inspired by in the gospel music industry?
I’m inspired by the Word and experiences of life but the Holy Spirit alone inspires me and I think a lot.
Please explain your creative process
Too busy. I’m in active Law Practice, I am a music Minister, to finish the Bible in a year is a MUST. I do average of 5 Bible chapters a day. I anchor intercessory prayers in most Platforms. I’m currently a post graduate student with much more to write and read. I write,I evangelise everywhere even on Social Media. I pray at least an hour minimum a day. Plus domestic chores…
How would you describe your kind of music?
Pure Gospel targeted at my audience experiencing the Move of the GOD of the Power of Annointed Voice/Music in their lives – David’s kind of Music. I’m sure you know what I mean.
Have you thought of featuring any other artist in your music lately?
O sure. Why not? It’s not my Music. It’s GOD’s Music…Anyone can be featured and I can submit myself to be featured in someone else’s music. Provided the person is genuinely born again.
Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?
Hmmmm. I have never been a timid or fearful person. I have never felt anyone, any crowd, is too big or too high for me to dare to address…
What’s your favourite song when ministering?
The Hymnal: When Peace like a river attendeth my way… during burials, I look to You of Whitney Houston and Goodness of GOD of which I have a Cover.
Which famous Gospel musicians do you admire?
Shirley Caesar, Cece Winans, Christy Lane. In NIGERIA, Sinach, Panam Percy Paul, Mercy Chinwo, Nathaniel Bassey, Osinachi of Blessed memory etc. I cannot Cece Winans’ ‘We believe for it’. I woke up one morning last year with a mysteriously sever headache. Scared. I mused. Few minutes after, the Lord spoke: get to YouTube, listen to that Cece Winans’ Song. I did. Halfway through the Song, the headache fizzled out. Till date. Annointed Gospel Music is Ebeano.😀 It can raise Lazarus from the Dead. Trust God.
What is your most challenging moment in your music career?
Okay. As a chorister in Church, the squabbles, undue rivalry amongst choristers, a kinda in-house politics, backbiting, envy, unspirituality of most choristers and instruments…
At the personal level, I think I was attacked as I set to work in the studio and publish my Covers. I had unusual pimples/acne all over my face, trying to stop me but thank GOD for make up artists and my inherent doggedness. Another challenge is that excellent music production is Very dear talking about the cost, the costume, the accompaniments and all that need to be brought to bear. And of course, the daunting challenge of starting out trying to carve a niche in the gospel music industry but God always has a Way. Once there is a Will, there is a Way. We keep pushing. Music is simply 1% Inspiration but 99% perspiration…You know what I mean.
Do you think Internet has impacted the ministry or music business in any way?
O sure. Internet is doing great for music ministry – reaching the unreached. You can reach out from the comfort of your room.
What’s next for you?
To return to studio to roll out my original compositions. What I have for now are two (2) Covers.
Who is Stella John in 5years time?
Stella John will be as fulfilled as GOD had destined her to be before the foundations of the world and in all facets of her Life.
